Based on some comments I’ve gotten in recent posts, I want to do two informal polls on two different decisions I’ve made recently. I won’t guarantee that that I’ll make my final decisions based on these polls. After all, I need to decorate our house according to my own personal taste. But sometimes it helps me to see which way the majority thinks, and sometimes all it takes is one comment from one person stating their reasoning to sway me. So, no guarantees here, but I’m curious to get your input.
The first thing is the headboard fabric. I had originally wanted to use the bird fabric as the headboard.
I love the bird fabric but using it as a headboard made other decisions difficult. The most challenging was what to do with the bed base. I really don’t want a wood bed base because I already have two wood bedside tables. I prefer fabric on the base of the bed (either upholstered or a bedskirt), but that bird fabric next to the area rug just doesn’t cut it for me. It seems like my only option would be a wood base. And a solid cream base just seems out of place.
So I decided that I needed something that would ground the bed better, and then I could use the bird fabric as an accent. This made everything come together so much easier for me since I could use the teal fabric as a bedskirt also.
Here’s a glimpse of all the fabrics that I have. So you tell me. If this were your room, which fabric would you use on the headboard? But then, if you choose the bird fabric, you’ll have to tell me how you’d finish out the bed because that bird fabric will not work as a bedskirt.
Okay, next up is the mirror in the foyer. A few people said it looks funny hanging over the wainscoting and chair rail. I really don’t mind it like this at all, although someone pointed out that I failed to get it centered on the wall. Ugh! Math is hard, y’all. 😀 If it stays here, I’ll definitely need to center it.
But the other option is that I could get a tall easel and put the mirror in the corner. I like this idea as well, but it will reflect my closet. As long as my closet is clean and everything is put away, that’s not a bad thing.
So give me your thoughts on those two things:
- Headboard fabric — Teal geometric or bird fabric? And if you would use the bird fabric, then you need to tell me how you would finish out the bed. It seems to me that my only option for a base would be a wood base because a bedskirt out of that bird fabric next to the area rug is not an option.
- Foyer mirror placement — Keep it on the wall (and center it)? Or buy a large easel and place it in the corner?
